Tigers search for new quarterback

PRINCETON — Princeton Senior High School will be going into the new football season with a new quarterback.

Senior Storm McPherson transferred to Spring Valley High School on the eve of fall practice.

“All I know is that he [McPherson] transferred, or at least that's what I've been told,” Interim coach Randy Peek said this week.

As a result, the Tigers will look to young players to call the shots on the gridiron.

Early in the practice season, Peek saw that a three-way competition had emerged between Jay Palmer, Caleb Robinette, and Kirkland Perdue.

The fact that his quarterbacks are inexperienced hasn’t dampened Peek's optimism.

“The good thing is that a lot of these juniors and seniors played for me in middle school,” Peek said. “So, a lot of them already know what we want to do on offense.”

On the social networking site, Twitter, McPherson announced his departure from Princeton at the beginning of the week.

To Jason Farley on Sunday, McPherson tweeted, “Spring Valley bro. We will talk tonight when I get back from the hunt for a crib.”

It did not seem to be easy for McPherson to leave the team that he had planned on playing for this year.

He sent several tweets expressing his support for the Tigers and telling his teammates to “block hard for Jay” referring to Palmer.

Still, he soon turned his attention to his new team, Spring Valley, tweeting to his new head coach Brad Dingess and teammate Elijah Wellman that he was excited to be there. Then, McPherson tweeted that “no one in SV [Spring Valley] history wore no.6.”
