PRINCETON —
The new year brought a rude awakening and a list of essential home repairs for Tracey and Josh Sisk.
The Sandlick Road couple spent New Year’s Eve bringing 2013 in with friends. They returned home in the dark hours of early morning and went to bed with no idea that someone had driven off of the main road and struck their house while they were away.
The next day, Tracey opened the door to feed their cat was shocked when she spotted the vehicle parts that littered the lawn.
One bumper lay on the yard. A part of another remained embedded inside the exterior of the home, and a fuel pump hung at the base of a nearby shrub.
“I honestly don’t know how they could drive off with a car missing as many parts as they left here,” Tracey said.
After waking Josh, Tracey contacted a neighbor, who advised that she heard the crash at approximately 11:45 p.m., Monday night. By the time the neighbor ran to the nearest door, all she saw was a compact car spinning its tires and fleeing the scene on the road with a posted speed limit of 25 mph.
The Sisks called for authorities. West Virginia State Police Cpl. J.C. Long investigated, but so far, the driver of the vehicle remains a mystery.
Tracey said a close examination of the parts left behind after the crash indicated the vehicle that hit her home was a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse, which is now likely missing an entire front bumper, part of the back, a spoiler, mirrors and a fuel pump.
The family is awaiting an inspection from an insurance adjuster, but Tracey fears the worst. Several bricks were knocked loose at the base of the wall that was hit, and she is worried that the whole wall is now bowed from the impact of the crash.
She asked that anyone with information on the crash contact the West Virginia State Police Princeton detachment at 304-425-2101.
