PRINCETON —
One final tidbit of news regarding the fire at PJHS. The time capsule that was placed in the cornerstone of the oldest portion of the school that had burned down, Sept. 8, 1922, was to be examined by order of the Grand Lodge, according to a former secretary of the Masonic Lodge 134 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
The cornerstone was laid by R. C. Sutherland, the Most Worshipful Grand Master pro tem at a ceremony of what was then the East River High School.
Superintendent Clinton Lilly, a mason, was given permission by the Grand Lodge to hold onto the casket until such time the Lodge could have it opened.
Further investigation into the Times did not reveal if the contents had been examined or if the casket had been opened at all.
