PRINCETON —
The exhibit "Unheard Voices" came to Concord College' s Ballroom, sponsored by the Social Work Organization along with the Family Refuge Center in Lewisburg and the Women's Resource Center in Beckley.
The exhibit featured 20-plus stories of survivors of sexual assault, all but one represented by masks. The viewer sat in front of the mask, put on a set of headphones, and listened to a taped message of personal stories that ranged from a 50 year-old man remembering an incident of incest to a woman who escaped a rapist during a burglary.
These short but powerful messages reflected common elements in the stories of the rape and incest survivors.
Dr. John David Smith expressed appreciation for the exhibit, "This is an important issue and we are glad to be able to bring it before the public."
