From the September 24, 1970 Archives - Intoxication big problem in city.

PRINCETON — Arrests for intoxication for the month of August topped the list of offenses in the city of Princeton for the third month in the row.

During this month in 1970 there were 132 arrests for intoxication during August compared to 92 for the month of July, the lowest for the year, the month of August 1970 increased by 15 percent.

Other offenses included: overnight parking, with 23 citations; trucks on restricted streets, five violations; reckless driving, four tickets; careless and hazardous parking had five offenders; and there was one drunk driving offense for the month.

There were 25 cases the department turned over to the Justice of the Peace, six of which caused injuries to other people.

The force escorted 14 funerals and investigated 12 accidents.
