PRINCETON — The Travel Industry Management students at Concord College embarked on a new program that, according to instructor David Wells, "[Gives people] a way to experience regional dining without leaving the Athens area."

The Gourmet Dining Series gave students in the TIM program a hands-on experience creating a dining experience. Students were responsible for every aspect of the program where they planned, organized, and executed food service for 50 people from as far away as Charleston and Roanoke, Va. during a themed event.

Students learned how to prepare meals in quantity, elements of proper food service, dining room management and atmosphere, and other event preparation elements such as ticket sales and promotion.

Themes for the events included: the Pacific Northwest, A Taste of the Southwest, Lights of London, and Treasures from the Chesapeake Bay. All proceeds from the events went towards scholarships for the TIM program.
