Slideshow: Dancing in our Square
Music in the Square took a graceful turn Wednesday, welcoming Princeton Dance Studio performers to the weekly summer concert series on Mercer Street. From tiny ballerinas to talented young ladies and gentlemen, the dancers lit up the square and entertained a near-capacity crowd. The selections, directed by Janis Gunnoe, included pieces from the spring recital, themed "Dancing in Our World."

Slideshow: PikeView Middle School dedicates trees to White
On Friday, June 7, PikeView Middle School celebrated the memory of Sam White, a PVMS teacher and a Princeton coach, who died suddenly in November 2012. The school dedicated two redbud trees and one river birch in White's honor at the Gardner school. White's parents, wife, sister and children attended the ceremony and thanked the students for their compassion.

Slideshow: Blaze tears through Union Drive home
A Union Drive home was destroyed Tuesday when a fire ignited inside the house in the 400 block of the street. Firefighting crews from East River Volunteer, Green Valley-Glenwood Volunteer and Princeton fire departments, along with Princeton Rescue Squad, responded to the scene, where PFD investigators reported a fire started on the interior of the home. No residents were injured in the fire, but PFD's Rick Shagoury was transported to Princeton Community Hospital after a piece of the roof collapsed on him. PFD officials reported later that he was in stable condition.

Slideshow: PSHS Tigers bands bring beat back to Mercer Street
The Princeton Senior High School Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band and Dance Team kicked off Music in the Square's 2013 season Wednesday in grand fashion. The free concerts, sponsored by the Princeton Times and The Music Exchange, will continue every Wednesday through August, weather permitting, in the Dick Copeland Town Square on Mercer Street.

The Rotary Club of Princeton held its annual dinner at the Chuck Mathena Center Tuesday night, featuring a keynote address by Molly Ballard, who successfully started an Interact Club at Poca High School. Among other highlights of the evening, were the award of the annual Rotary Scholarship to Joshua Cox, of PikeView High School; the introduction of the Joseph Marsh Legacy Award; recognition of Candy Stanley as the John Perry Volunteer of the Year; a salute to Carol and Herb McClaugherty, who shared Rotarian of the Year honors; and the presentation of Jeff Disibbio as a Paul Harris Fellow.

Princeton Boy Scouts listen in, as Athens Volunteer Fire Department Chief John Casey outlines the possibility of starting Fire and Emergency Services Career Exploring Post in Mercer County to expand interest in fighting fire and working in emergency situations. Fire and Emergency Service Career Exploring is open to young men and women ages 14-21years old. It is a hands-on program that exposes participants to many career experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities.

Slideshow: CU students visit Box City
For 24 hours, some Concord University students seized the opportunity to spend the night homeless. Beginning early Friday, May 3, the volunteers began constructing their makeshift shelters out of cardboard, plastic, sticks and other unusual building materials. Then, they spent the night on the campus lawn, all in a bid to raise awareness of homelessness and to help Scottie's Place, a southern West Virginia organization that benefits homeless children.
