PRINCETON — —
During the past few days, our citizens have taken time to celebrate the birth of our nation, our wonderful Constitution. Until the past few years, we were seen by other nations as the greatest nation on earth. It would be good to remain that way, but now, we are so divided. Many young men have died on battlefields to keep these freedoms.
Others here at home have had to march and protest and wage their own battles just to obtain the rights set forth by our forefathers. Some are still fighting for those rights as they find new ways to stop folks from voting. That is outrageous and should not be.
However, our great country has changed a lot, and not for the best. It is like we are going backward and losing rights since the political parties and the candidates are allowed to spend billions to make sure they get in office. This fact is inexplicable and done in secret or called dark money. This fact would assure that only the wealthy people would occupy every office in our land. That is a terrible thing and would be like living under the rule of King George again. These wealthy people cannot and never will relate to the middle class that had to work and sweat their way up the ladder. We must help the middle class to move forward again.
We need leaders who understand how it feels to be put out of their homes and lose the cars because they no longer have a job to go to each day. Children are crying while they are being led to a homeless shelter with no hope in their hearts. Sometimes, a family must live in their cars or even tents.
Does anyone care? Many who have so much must care. Some leaders need to speak up for them. It is so sad to see our America this way. Our working folks have lost so much and for sure they have lost their dignity. The big banks knew they were going busted and that the housing bubble would soon burst because they did gamble with the money. But our middle class had no warning, and they will suffer the most from the recession, just like those folks in the 1930's when the same thing happened. The rich got richer, and the poor got poorer. How could they let this happen again?
Now, we must help our veterans come back from these wars. They deserve a lot of help, and they will need jobs and so many will need long term medical care. They should receive all the help they need because they gave so much. Many gave their life, and their families gave their loved ones and will suffer a great loss that can never be filled. It is total heartbreak to lose any of our veterans. Wives suffer along with their children and the rest of family members.
We must also help the middle class worker by getting some of our jobs back from other countries. There is no excuse for what has been done to our citizens. Of course, you don't need to worry if you own 10 homes, many automobiles and have rushed to put your billions in other countries banks and off-shore banks. You won't even have to pay tax on it because, they can get that from the middle class and poor folks!
Everyone in Congress should work for the citizens and do what is best for our country. When you vote, then you will have your power. American citizens vote the leaders in office and pay them and give them a great retirement. They should work for you, and they should work together and stop whining and playing games.
Our country depends on them to do the right thing. They must not divide America and keep us down. We need to keep things right for our children and grandchildren. We must educate them so we won't end up like a third world country. We can do it and we must do it for our future.
God bless our veterans and God bless America!
Sincerely,
Evelyn Ann Jenkins
