Princeton Public Library - Book and a Movie

PRINCETON —  — Join Princeton Public Library for the summer series, Book and a Movie. This month, the library will feature Dorothea Benton Frank's “Folly Beach.” In the book, Dorothea Benton Frank intertwines factual details from her research of the lives of Dorothy and DuBose Heyward with fictional character Cate Cooper to create a compelling story about loss and love.

Frank creates a scenario of what the Heywards’ lives might have been like while living on Folly Beach, South Carolina as the folk opera Porgy and Bess was brought to fruition.

Pick up the book starting July 5, and then join them for a showing of the most famous American opera of the 20th century “Porgy and Bess” on July 27, at 2 p.m.
